Lessons from the change in season. 🍁
🌿 Nature is moody, and so are humans. We are intimately connected to the natural world, and there is much we can learn from it. Just as we observe the seas transitioning from calm to rough waters, our emotions ebb and flow in response to the tides of life. It is a profound realization that we, like nature, have our own natural rhythm—a rhythm that, when understood and embraced, can lead to greater emotional well-being.

Hello Summer!
Navigating graduation season as a mother: Embracing all the emotions as your child graduates high school.
It’s high school graduation season! And that brings a host of varied emotions for the graduates and for those involved in caring for the graduates during their formative years.
Since my practice focuses on women’s mental wellness, I’d like to take a moment and address the women who may be struggling with mixed emotions during this time.

What happens when we realize something will take effort -
Do you shrink and decide to load up the next, best series on Netflix or Hulu to binge watch ?
If you have ever witnessed a toddler learning to walk, they get up, fall down and get up again.
My daughter learned to walk on the dingy sidewalks and parks of New York City. Her knees were always dirtied and bruised, but she never complained, cried or most of all gave up.
What is Creative Wellness?
When we think of health and wellness we most often think of what I refer to as the “pillars of health,” the ones that keep us stable, as legs do to a table. The domains of nutrition, sleep, exercise and social/spiritual life are key to keeping yourself (your “table”) in balance. An extension of the spiritual pillar is self-expression. We must be free to safely express ourselves and our shared experiences and emotions with others and the community/ world at large. When we are blocked from having avenues of expression we may find ourselves in emotional discord.
Creative Wellness refers to the concept that good health centers around every aspect of yourself including your own personal creativity in the form of self expression.
Tips to finding the right therapist for you!
The first thing that anyone searching for mental health support should know is that it takes great courage to begin to seek help. Take time to search through available therapists. You have the right to consult with a therapist and determine if they are a right fit for you. Most therapists offer a 15 - 20 minute free consult, if not ask for one! Not every therapist is right for every client. When we are struggling we want relief and because we are in an immediate need it may be hard to take the time to search for a good fit. It is also perfectly acceptable to begin with a therapist and after a few sessions if you determine they are not what you need, you can change to another provider. There are so many different types of therapy available, from more traditional psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral talk therapies, to art, music, drama, yoga therapy and more, that engage of our senses.

Boundaries go deep and wide as the foundational aspect of your relationship with yourself. We learn how to navigate boundaries with the people and the world around us based on our inner boundary compass. More specifically boundaries assist in creating limits and rules. Do you ever think about where your boundaries come from?
